Spirit Week, Zoo & other random pictures

This post is going to have a bunch of random pictures from our past week.

Random number one: Charles got the straws down one morning and forgot to put them back up in the cupboard. Somehow they were behind the toaster oven and when we turned the toaster on it melted quite a few of the straws and the plastic wrap around them. Glad it didn't cause a fire!

Random number two: making rubberband bracelets is a recent favorite pastime and even 4-year-old Jane has picked it up and can make little rings.

Random number three: Last week was the last full week of school for the kids until Summer break so we had Spirit Week. A few of the days my kids dressed up on were crazy hair, superhero and 80's day.
Elisabeth's crazy hair.
Annabelle's crazy hair bow.

Pictures from 80's day. Elisabeth and her two besties, Emily and Tammy.

Random number 4: Costco now sells red quinoa! I was so excited to see it! Here is a big bowl, cooked up for me to use in whatever I want during the week. Isn't it pretty?

Random number 5: I was a chaperone for Annabelle's fieldtrip to the zoo. We had four kids and the two boys were very energetic and I definitely had to put on my strict mom face while we were there; in the beginning they were running everywhere and climbing on everything and chasing the peacocks and geese walking around trying to poke them. So I set several rules and was very strict about us following them; the consequence: if you do x you will hold my hand. The boys held my hand off and on throughout the three and a half hours we were there. :)

Random number 6: Some selfies, one of Nora and a couple I took in my new-to-me clothes from Bec. I'm pretty sure 3/4 of my wardrobe comes from Becca. Thanks Sis! Love your style :).

Random number 7: Waffles for Sunday breakfast. Charles made himself a cute little smiley face with the toppings.

Bella Notte

Back in February a friend from the Stake, Megan, asked if I sang because they had a spot in their singing group. I think she asked because she'd just heard Elisabeth play the piano so beautifully at Charles' baptism and probably thought I was also musically inclined. I actually do enjoy singing, in particular alto, so I agreed to give it a try. There are 10 of us and these women are all fabulous people and great singers! I've loved getting to know them during our weekly practices. The picture above is just before we sang a few numbers at a Senior Prom for the community. And the picture below was just after the Senior Prom when I took the girls to get ice cream since the boys were out camping!

Last week we sang at an assisted living center; the kids and I used to go monthly to visit some elderly friends we'd made when we lived in Utah and it brought back such fond memories! We'll have to start going again. We're singing at another assisted living center next week. We've had three performances so far so it's not all the time.
After meeting together weekly for months, we decided to have a BBQ so we could meet everyone's family and sing a couple of songs for them.

Elisabeth in Peter Pan

Elisabeth's school does a musical/play each year. This year was Peter Pan and Elisabeth played the part of Iridessa, a fairy. She sang and dance and had a few speaking lines.

Elisabeth had lots of practices and rehearsals that became even more frequent as the performance day approached. Toward the end we'd wait for her to get out of piano so we could rush her back to school for practice; Here are Annabelle and I, waiting outside for piano to finish, the other kids were there as well, playing hide-and-seek in the front yard :). You like Nora's 'loves' hanging out of my pockets? Yeah, that's totally normal. Her love is actually a white handkerchief.

Elisabeth performed Tuesday and Thursday, with a couple of different main casts.

Scott took Annabelle and Jane to watch her perform Thursday night(Charles saw her perform during the day at school). I went and watched her Tuesday night and afterward took her out for frozen yogurt. Good job Elisabeth, you worked hard and you did well!

Washington Family Reunion: Part 3 of 3

We took this picture on Mother's Day.

We got donuts one morning from our favorite spot in downtown Bothell called The Donut House.
Bec and I took my mom out to an ipic theater as a mother's day gift. We saw spiderman which was a bit intense for all of us but they only had a few options and that seemed the best...we mostly wanted to go for the ipic experience: luxury leather reclining chairs, blankets, pillows, food to order and brought to you while you watch. It was a fun experience.

Mom and Bec look a little concerned in this picture:

Becca and Blake stole my camera for a bit:

I went to look in on the girls one morning and had to snap this picture of Jane hanging off the side of the bed that her and Elisabeth shared. :)

We had a wonderful week together! Becca, Blake and Bella, thanks for giving up your home for a week so we could stay there! Can't wait until our next visit!
