Second half of January

Tuesday January 17 we had school off,  we also had it off on Monday, so we went to Airborne Trampoline park and took a couple of friends. 

That night was our Relief Society activity. I am so grateful for Sheryl and our activities commitee and all they do for these events. We had Cafe Rio salads for dinner and we played a short activity where you have a paper with a list of items on it and points next to each item, and however many of those items you have in your purse currently, you get points for each of those things. We told the women before hand to bring a purse. I shared a brief spiritual thought on New Years goals and encouraged them to set at least one spiritual goal for themselves this year, whether it be reading scritptures, praying more often or more sincerely, or attending the temple more often etc. 

Becca and Bella came out for the weekend to see one of Jane's gymnastics meets. They chose to come to the one in Provo so that they could see Elisabeth too and her dorm at BYU. 

Here we are at Jane's Beehive Classic meet at the Provo Convention Center. This is by far the best place to watch a meet! Why? Because you have seats with backs, and comfortable ones at that, there's plenty of space so you're not squished next to everyone, there's consessions, and lots of room inside the convention center to walk around if you need a break. 

Jane did great as always, though she did take a hard fall on the beam just before her dismount which was painful for her. 

She still managed to place high in everything but the beam.  

While they were here, Jane mentioned that she loves cake pops and Becca decided to make some and let her help. 

We were excited to spend a little extra time with Elisabeth too. 

The next week we celebrated Scott's 42nd birthday! 

Scott loves to have a Pizookie on his birthday so we of course made that happen. And we had mexican food for dinner. Scott and I also went out to dinner with Ben and Gina at an Italian restaurant in Provo as part of his celebration. 

I am so grateful Scott was born! He is my best friend! He lights up my life and world around him. 

Sisters!

Nora finsihed the DARE program at school and they had a ceremony at the school. 

About a month ago we got Spencer to sleep in his own room! He wasn't liking the room he was in, in the basement because when Lani left early in the mornings or had to work at night, he was in the basement by himself. So we set up the cot in the laundry room and he has been sleeping in there since. We now have another fold out bed right next to this cot so it's more like the size of a Full bed than what is pictured which is nice because Lani can lay there with him at night and read together. 

I love family game nights! Upwords is a fun one. 

For one of Annabelle's school classes, she had to take a fake baby home for a couple of nights and this baby cries when it's hungry or messy (not really but you have to take the diaper off and put on another one) or needs to be burped, and it has a chip inside it, so if you don't respond quickly it'll cry more and then Annabelle is getting graded on how well she's responding to the baby because the school gets that information. She was pretty excited to get her baby and she kinda enjoyed taking care of it. 

 

First half of January

 Charles pulled out this 500 piece puzzle which we all worked on for a couple of days over Christmas break. Penny jumped up and snatched a couple of the pieces and ate them, so although we finished the puzzle, in the end there were two missing pieces. Naughty Penny. 

It has been a cold, wet and snowy winter! More so than I ever remember! But I guess Utah needs the water. The kids have gone sledding many times. Scott and i went with them one morning over break and it was a lot of fun. 

Scott and I only went down one time together. He didn't seem to enjoy it as much as I did, or at least, he didn't go down very many times. I kept going over and over again. 

For New Years this year we decided to go out to breakfast instead of dinner (mostly because that's what we could fit into our schedules) where we talked about our goals for the upcoming year. 

Spencer loves his hot chocolate. We've had plenty of that with all the cold this year. 

This is the game Charles got for me and Scott this Christmas. It's called Upword. It's a fun one. 

January 6th, Charles turned 17! Years ago, when he was a young boy, I had given away our Calvin and Hobbes comic book collection because he was reading it non-stop and imitating some of the bad behaviors in that book (not really bad, but he I didn't like it coming from my 8 year old especially when he wasn't being nice to his sisters because of it). That was pretty upsetting to him and he'd mentioned it a few times over the years, even once in the past year: 'remember when you got rid of all the calvin and hobbes books that I loved.' Anyhow, I decided to redeem myself this year when I searched for them on Amazon over black friday and found that the set was half price! So I got them and saved them for his birthday. 

He also got some airsoft gear for his birthday since he loves playing airsoft. 

And of course we celebrated with a couple of banana cream pies.

All four of us were in our last ward together. I still do bookclub with Amanda and Maren each month, but I don't often get to see Samantha. But we made sure to make it out to her author signing and Q&A for her most recently published book, Secrets of the Sonnets.

Jane had her first meet, the GTC. She did very well and placed on every event. She got 2nd all around.
