We took a short hike to Battle Creek Falls on Labor Day morning. It was 1.25 miles RT and took us about 40 minutes. A good time was had by all except for one who is in a phase where she hates all hikes, even the short, scenic ones with beautiful waterfalls. We agreed to get donuts at teh end of the hike which made her feel a little better about the whole thing. You might be able to guess which child it was from the picture below. Once home from the hike we planted another tree in the backyard where one had died this past year.
Scott and I both work with the youth at church and we had a fun combined activity (it was actually for all the youth in the region) where we went to Herriman and listened to a concert put on by Alex Boye. They also had a couple of short, motivational speakers who were specifically addressing teens and their current struggles.
Scott suggested we do a date night hike and dinner picnic. I loved the idea! We went to American Fork Canyon and did a hike called Island Meadow Trail (you follow signs for salamander flats once you park at Timponoeke trailhead); 2.6 miles round trip. It was beautiful, with lots of plants, shade and mountain views. We loved that it was 15 degrees cooler up there since we've had a hot September. Half way through we stopped and ate the Subway sandwiches we packed up for dinner. I loved the talk time we got on our hour long hike (and another hour long drive there and back).
All the girls are playing soccer this year. Which means we often have 3-4 games to attend each Saturday which makes our Saturdays pretty busy. Here's a picture from one of Annabelle's games. She's right in the middle of the pic, closest one to me, in a white shirt and socks.

Jane is also doing gymnastics right now at Olympus. She loves it.

Jane and I got to babysit for our cute back neighbors. They have a 7 month old baby. I 'trained' Jane since she's not used to doing babies. We both loved having some baby time.

The girls dressed Penny up in this bandana and we wanted to document her in all her cuteness.
This September marked the 20 year anniversary since the tragic 9-11. Our youth set up flags all around the neighborhood park which was a beautiful reminder.
That night BYU played their biggest rival, The University of Utah (Utes). It had been 12 years and 9 games since our last win against the Utes but we won this game!!! Scott and Charles were there with their friends Andy and Drew and they had a fantastic time. After that game Scott bought 2 season passes for the remainder of the season (5 more games) and he's been taking one of the kids each week which they've loved.
BYU fans were so excited about the win. They all rushed the field after the game.
Final Score. BYU 26, Utah 17.
Scott liked their half time show which honored 9-11.
Back at home we all dressed up and watched the game. The girls did some body painting too.
