Mother's Day and Maycember continued...

It seems an almost impossible feat to get everyone in the family smiling for a photo, even if it's Mother's Day. But we have 5/6, which is a pretty good percentage.
My favorite gift was this notepad from Nora. She said she thought Nana meant mom, that Annabelle had even told her so! I got a good laugh out of it, and I love to use my 'Best Nana Ever' notepad.
Nora and Elisabeth also gave me a coupon for a free foot soak and scrub! Yes please!

Here's a better picture from mother's day. This was taken after church, when we'd all gotten in our casual and comfy clothes once again.
Everyone is smiling!!

And here's a picture with me and my mom from last year...

And Scott with his mom (and dad) from this year.

The girls piano teacher has a baby that my girls love to come and play with. Here she is giving Jane open-mouthed, slobbery kisses.
Charles had the opportunity to practice with the marching band in May. Because of his baseball schedule, he was only able to go once, but he enjoyed it. I think it's so cool that they allow them to come and do this with them.
My kids at APA each had their Show What You Know concerts...each was a different night of the week, which made it tricky to attend, but we were able to make it work.

APA also puts on a 5k and 1k fundraiser at the end of the  year. All three girls participated. It's so funny to watch them all at the start line because all the kids get so excited and anxious for the race to begin that they start creeping forward, more and more until they're way past the start line before it begins, and adults are trying their hardest to get them back :).
This is our third year in a row volunteering at the Running with Angels 5k, where we run a water station. We always do it with the same family, who we've come to know over the years and who we enjoy spending the morning with.

This is a great service activity for a family of all ages.
Elisabeth hosted her second recital. This time is was a Spring recital and all the kids played Disney themed songs.

Nora had her Jolley's tumbling recital and did great.

Charles band concert
We love Crumbl cookies.

This is one of my favorite lunches; steel cut oats with some favorite toppings. I also like to eat this after a long Saturday run.

Jane has been taking ballet and tumbling at Rocky Mountain Dance. This is from her tumbling showcase.

It's hard to tell from this picture, but this is Nora. The girls are so flexible!

Maycember

I saw a comedy music video recently called Maycember. They joke about how May is as busy as December (with all the recitals, school programs, gifts...but for teachers etc), but without the lights and music and loveliness of Christmas. May is SO busy. I think it's actually busier than December. The kids are all heavily involved in their extracurricular activities, all of which continue to practice as normal plus they add in recitals and rehearsals (times 5 children), and then they're trying to get their grades as high as they can so they're redoing things and spending extra time at school, and theirs school programs, different nights for different grades. I'll post pictures for some of our 'Maycember' activities here, but there's more to come in future posts, as they last the whole month long :).

These are from Annabelle's dance recital. She did ballet and jazz.

She's in the green, in the back, with her leg up.
Here are Annabelle and Annika. They're been good friends since they were babies.
Here's an older picture of them.
These podcasts have helped me get through the month, and every month really...They're with me on my drives, and when I'm cleaning while the kids are gone...this month especially, they've been leaving stuff everywhere: school books, papers, notes, pencils plus their usual clothes, socks, shoes, etc. And I've been helping out more with those things (normally I have them do it) since they're gone all the time.

Elisabeth got all registered for high school. We were on two computers, on her school account and my parent login, both signing up for classes at the same time. She was finished within a few minutes, but she was super stressed right before and during :). I told her when I was in high school we didn't get to pick anything, so it would all work out.
Nora's class finished up a section on Mexico or Latin American countries, so they had a fiesta at school. I helped hand out food and made sure kids were at a safe distance when they did the pinata.

Elisabeth has a group of friends in our neighborhood that she spends a lot of time with. It was one of their birthdays recently and they asked if they could throw him a surprise birthday party at our house. All the friends brought a food item to share and I helped Elisabeth and Lyssa make him a cake.

We had a stake primary activity one Saturday morning and I ran one of the rotations for an hour. I was in charge of the 'fishers of men' rotation...which was probably the favorite of most of the kids as they got to go fishing for a prize (swedish fish), after I told them about Jesus and his apostles and how we can be fishers of men.
I went on a field trip earlier in the year with Nora and Annabelle's class, so this time around I went with Jane's class on their field trip to the Utah history museum.
Elisabeth is in Dance Company at the Junior High. They had a recital this month as well.

That's Elisabeth laying on top of everyone.

Elisabeth and Maddie have been good friends since they were in kindergarten.
Here they are again, years ago.

Charles was able to pitch a few times this season which he enjoyed. He mostly played short stop and he got to be a really good hitter this year! We're in tournaments now (at the mid/end of June).
Here's a picture of Charles at his scout overnighter eating some top ramen...a favorite :). Scott went along on this scouting trip as well and they had a good time.
Jane had her ballet dance recital and did a beautiful job!
They gave her a pair of pretty clip on earrings and a red rose. She felt very special :).
And Scott and I having a pickle ball date night. We enjoy being active....and eating :).
